First Grade

First Grade Concert

Cloverleaf High School Gym

All first grade students are involved in this great concert. The concert is at the high school to accommodate all first graders, audience members, and parking. It is recommended that students wear dress clothes. Students should arrive at 6:20 pm in the cafeteria and sit at the table labeled with his/her classroom teacher's name.

Current Songs and Objectives:
Concert Songs - appropriate performance behaviors
"Bow Wow Wow" - move appropriately to music and eighth note/quarter note/rest notation

Past Songs and Objectives:
"I Bought Me a Cat" - play an instrument at the appropriate time and use a singing voice
"Chavela and the Magic Bubble" - retell a story
"Shoemaker's Dance" - AB form and moving appropriately to music
Rotating Circle - perform written rhythms on classroom instruments
Shoemaker chant - quarter note/eighth note notation
"Peter and the Wolf" - idenitify instruments of the orchestra
"Who Has the Penny?" - sing a solo on pitch
"Hey, Betty Martin" - improvise beat motions
"Johnny Works with One Hammer" - steady beat on classroom instruments
"Mama Caught a Flea" (chant) - quarter note, eighth note, rest notation
"Fiddlers Playing" - improvise movement and play a steady beat on various tambourines
"Hey Mr. Knickerbocker" (chant) - maintain steady beat
"My Aunt Came Back" - steady beat motions
"Singing Island" - vocal improvisation
"Shiloh" - singing voice and matching pitch
"Punchinella" - steady beat motions
"Five Green and Speckled Frogs" - use a singing voice and play simple instruments on beat
"Jim Along Josie" - coordinate movement with song lyrics
"Round and Round" - drum beat and appropriate movement, singing voice
"Hello There" - singing voice and beat motions
"Hello, What's Your Name?" - singing voice
